Biography

Terry Broderick is the retired dean of the McColl School of Business at Queens University of Charlotte, having served on the Queens Board of Trustees from 2001-2005. He had previously served within the McColl School as an executive coach and in the Executive-in-Residence program. Mr. Broderick also speaks frequently on the subject of values-based leadership. He achieved AACSB accreditation standards for professionally qualified faculty in June 2009.

Mr Broderick retired in 2002 as President and CEO of Royal & SunAlliance USA, a Charlotte, NC based company. His career with the corporation spanned 30 years, previously serving as chief corporate officer, overseeing the claims, administration, corporate communications, human resources, corporate marketing, internal audit, and information technology functions. He was appointed to the Board of Royal Group, Inc. in 1994.

A graduate of LaSalle University in Philadelphia, Mr. Broderick joined Royal in the company’s personal lines division in 1973, having previously been with the American Stock Exchange. In 1978 he was named marketing manager in the New Jersey office and was later appointed regional manager, with overall responsibility for the company’s New Jersey operations. Two years later, he was promoted to vice president, in charge of the national personal lines division. In September of 1988, he became senior vice president of Royal’s systems services division, with responsibility for the company’s data processing and systems operations. He was appointed chief field operations officer in June of 1992, overseeing all field personal and commercial lines operations. In addition, he held executive positions in Royal’s corporate planning and human resource functions.

Mr. Broderick was a member of the Board of Trustees for the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters and was on the Executive Committee for the Board of Trustees for the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters. He also served as an Executive Committee Member for the Council of Insurance Company Executives (CICE) and was on the Board of Directors for the American Insurance Association (AIA). In the Charlotte community, Mr. Broderick has been active in a number of arts, civic and educational organizations. He served on a number of non-profit boards including the Regional HIV/AIDS Consortium and Thompson Children’s Home, while chairing the Executive Service Corps Board. He was also a member of the Levine Children’s Hospital Advisory Committee.

Terry and his wife, Kathie, live in Charlotte, North Carolina. They have three children and five grandchildren.
