Special Education K-12 Graduate Certificate

What You’ll Study

Teachers certified to educate students with special needs must have a deep understanding of their social, emotional, and cognitive needs to effectively deliver a curriculum. Teachers must also be aware of seminal legislation and policies guiding special education instruction and keep up with current trends and issues for best practices. This graduate certificate will teach you research-based strategies and the applications of these strategies for today’s schools.

At Queens, you’ll work directly with faculty who have decades of teaching and research experience and have been in your current position as K-12 educators as well as coaches, facilitators, specialty leaders, and administrators. As professional developers, they work with school administrators and teachers in local districts and schools. This ensures they keep current on standards, best practices, and recent education trends.

Our certificate program allows you to add ‘Special Education K-12’ to your NCDPI License.
