THE LEARNING SOCIETY LAUNCH
Previous lectures and student discussions.
If you have ever considered joining The Learning Society, now is the time! For our first event this year, David Brooks is joined by Anna Quindlen on October 30, 2024. Brooks is a bestselling author, op-ed columnist at the New York Times, and recurring commentator on PBS NewsHour. Quindlen is a prolific bestselling author, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, and social critic. With Quindlen serving as moderator, the two will offer an insightful discussion on repairing America’s political and social division.
The public-facing lecture is only one part of this important program. Through memberships and ticket proceeds, students are provided with once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to engage with some of the day’s top writers, thinkers, entrepreneurs, and intellectuals. Professors incorporate texts in their curriculum in preparation for the visit. Students ask big questions, probe deeper into their studies, and expand their cultural capital. These experiences make them better prepared to become working professionals and empathetic citizens. Your membership to The Learning Society is not only an investment in the academic experience of our students—it’s an investment in the culture of Charlotte.
Visit queens.edu/learningsociety for a detailed overview of this year’s lineup, the benefits of membership, and the different membership levels. If you’re considering joining, don’t miss the opportunity to sign up for the Summer Cocktail on July 31, 2024. This is just one of the many exclusive events and benefits of a membership!
