Feb 28, 2024 By Queens University Communications

On Feb. 25-27, Queens University of Charlotte welcomed visiting college counselors from the Association of College Counselors in Independent Schools (ACCIS) for an Equity and Innovation Summit.

Coordinated by ACCIS’ Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Committee, this is  the second time that the event was hosted by Queens. It aimed to foster engaging conversations, collaborative learning, and a collective push towards greater equity and inclusion in the field of independent school college counseling.

The summit offered a dynamic space for participants to hear insights from renowned speakers and fellow counselors through keynote sessions and thought-provoking discussions. Through interactive conversations, participants discussed specific topics focusing on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

During their visit, counselors had the opportunity to discover Queens University’s offerings through admission presentations, gaining valuable insights for their students.

On Feb. 28, Queens also welcomed members of the Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA) for an opportunity to explore the campus while learning about its academic programs. In addition, HECA members engaged with students to learn about their experiences at Queens University while living in the vibrant city of Charlotte.

“We value the partnerships we’ve created with college counselors from across the country,” said Trish Priest, director of undergraduate admissions. “These relationships are important in guiding students towards the college experience that best meets their needs.”
