A Space to Shop, Connect, and Celebrate: The Black Pop-Up Shop at Queens

Black History Month is a time to celebrate culture, creativity, and community — at Queens University of Charlotte and beyond.

That energy was on full display on February 6, when the Queens Black Student Union hosted a Black Pop-Up Shop on campus. The event brought nearly 20 local Black-owned vendors to campus, offering everything from clothing, jewelry, and handmade crafts to beauty products, drinks, and food trucks.

For John’na Hall, Queens junior and president of the Black Student Union, the event was about visibility and connection.

“Showing Queens students, faculty, and staff that there are Black vendors and curators in their community is important, just so we can come together to support those businesses and showcase their talents,” Hall said. “Having a space here on campus that people can come to, walk up and shop, hear music, visit the food trucks — it’s great.”
