Queens Tailgate Expectations

  • Tailgates with student participation should be registered as official events on campus and follow the expectations in the Tailgate Policies & Procedures. Tailgates require a campus police officer on site and one university staff member.
  • Student tailgates are limited to beer, seltzers, and wine only. No liquor is permitted. No glass bottles. Kegs and other common source containers are not allowed. Alcohol should be stored in coolers or closed containers.
  • Drinking games are not permitted.
  • Wristbands must be used to identify those who are of the legal drinking age.
  • Tailgates can take place no more than 4 hours before the game time.
  • Tailgates are permitted on the Levine Lawn and adjacent parking lot and at the Sports Complex parking lot (other tailgate locations must be pre-approved). All alcohol must remain within the designated area of the tailgate, and it should be marked off with appropriate signage. Consumption of alcohol outside designated tailgating areas and/or time periods constitutes a violation of Queens tailgating policy and possibly North Carolina law.
  • All individuals are responsible for their behavior and must comply with the Honor Code policies. Persons acting in a disruptive, disrespectful, or disorderly manner may be asked to leave the premises and/or be subject to a citation from the university or Law Enforcement.
  • Adequate food and non-alcoholic beverages must be made available throughout the entirety of the event. Grills are allowed but must be monitored at all times.
  • At the conclusion of the event, all trash must be bagged and the space cleaned appropriately. Trash containers will be provided throughout the tailgate areas. Tailgating participants are strongly encouraged to recycle (paper, plastic, glass, and metal).
  • Pets are permitted but should be leashed at all times.
