Solomon Agreement

Per the Solomon Amendment, institutions of higher education are required to provide military recruiters with “student recruiting information” for all students who are at least seventeen (17) years of age and enrolled for at least one credit hour at their institutions.

Student Recruiting Information includes:

  • Name
  • Address (local, permanent)
  • Telephone number (local, permanent)
  • Age or Date of birth
  • Major
  • Class Level (Senior, Junior, etc.)
  • Degree awarded

Information released is limited to the current semester or the previous semester. If the request is received between semesters, the requestor must specify previous or upcoming semester. Any student who has placed a hold on their record will be excluded under FERPA.

Requesting Student Recruiting Information

All requests for “student recruiting information” must be made in writing on letterhead that clearly identifies the military recruiting organization.  Recruiters must be from one of the following military organizations:

  • Air Force
  • Air Force National Guard
  • Air Force Reserve
  • Army
  • Army National Guard
  • Army Reserve
  • Coast Guard
  • Coast Guard Reserve
  • Marine Corps
  • Marine Corps Reserve
  • Navy
  • Navy Reserve
