ROAR Information for Students

Welcome!

Congratulations on your decision to become a Royal! As a new student to Queens University of Charlotte, we know you have questions and will need some guidance to help begin your collegiate career. We are here to help you and your family as you transition to Queens!

Our ROAR program will help finalize your enrollment for your upcoming fall semester. During this two-day program, we’ll provide you with information to help with your transition to campus, review and finalize information about your academic major, share more about student life at Queens, provide resources to help you succeed, and ease any concerns as you get ready to join the Royals family.

Schedule of Events

We’re excited to provide a general overview of our ROAR events! A more detailed schedule with locations will be provided at check-in.

10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. | Check In

Student check-in will start at Albright Residence hall where you will be shown to your room. Please settle in and then proceed to the next part of your day.

11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. | Optional Placement Tests

Students who have pre-registered the Calculus Readiness Placement Tests should report to their assigned testing locations as listed on their nametag. If you would like to take the Foreign Language Placement test, please speak to the advising representative in the Albright lobby.

11:00 a.m. & 11:30 a.m. | Optional Res Life Tours
Meet at Diana Fountain

Join the Residence Life team for guided tours of our residence halls and get a firsthand look at where you’ll live, learn, and connect. This is a great opportunity to ask questions, explore amenities, and envision your home away from home.

4:15-5:15 p.m. | Rex’s Resource Fair (All)
Levine Center

Explore many campus resources at your own pace. Travel throughout the fair and engage with members of the Queens community. Light refreshments will be provided.

4:45-5:15 p.m. | Optional Athletics Q&A

Student-athletes and families are invited to learn about the Queens student-athlete experience, including insurance and compliance. This conversation will focus on the athletic culture, resources for success, and the best ways for families to support their students.

5:15-6:00 p.m. | Spill the Royal Tea
Belk Chapel

What’s the tea? How do you deal with what comes up? Your ROAR leaders will act out potential college life scenarios through skits. After each skit, you will process the content and learn about resources.

6:00-7:15 p.m. | Dinner
Young Dining Hall in Trexler

6:30-7:15 p.m. | Academic Honors Program Session (Honor Students Only)

During this mandatory session for honors students, you will receive essential information about the program’s requirements and perks. Please pick up your dinner in the dining hall and proceed to your room.

7:30-8:30 p.m. | Royals Connect
Levine Center

Royals Connect is an interactive session where you’ll meet other students through fun games and team challenges. It’s a chance to laugh, break the ice, and start building connections as you find your place in the Queens community.

8:30-10:00 p.m. | Rex Games and Service Project
Levine Center

It’s time to unwind, and you get to choose your adventure—we’ve got games, crafts, and competitive activities, or you can chill. We’ll close out the evening with pizza and sweet treats.

9:30-10:00 a.m. | Nuts and Bolts: What You Need to Know Before August

You don’t want to miss this session where we will cover the next critical steps before arriving in August. We’ll make sure you’re prepared for a smooth transition to life at Queens.

10:00-10:45 a.m. | Understanding Your Schedule

We’ll explore Queens’ General Education curriculum and how it helps you build the foundational skills needed for any major. You’ll also get practical tips for creating a well-balanced schedule, navigating the registration process with confidence, and setting yourself up for academic success. Come ready to plan, connect, and thrive from day one.

Changing Your Major
Knight Crane Hall 306

Thinking about changing your major, still undecided, or unable to meet with your Royal Advisor before ROAR? This breakout session is designed to help you prepare for a successful start at Queens University of Charlotte. You’ll explore academic interests and major options, learn about campus resources, review important registration information, and receive guidance on your next steps before registering for classes on Day 2 of ROAR. Staff will also be available to answer questions and help you feel confident and prepared for course registration.

This session will provide an overview of the MyFinancialAid and MyAccount portals, financial aid and payment options, deadlines, and financial planning at Queens University of Charlotte.
