International Student Admission Process

Want to become a Royal? Whether you are a first-year college student or transferring to Queens, here’s how to do it in three steps!

First-Year College Students

Step One: Submit Your Application

Queens has two ways to apply – the Queens application and the Common Application.

The Queens application allows you to apply directly to the university in a simple way. The Common Application lets you apply to multiple colleges and universities at once, but with more steps to go through.

Step Two: Official Secondary School Transcript(s) & Other Necessary Documentation

1. Request an official, English-translated* secondary school (high school) transcript be sent to Queens.

*Secondary school transcripts must be translated into English by an official at the school or a certified translating service, such as World Education Services (WES), IEE, or SpanTran.

2. Submit standardized English Proficiency Test Scores.

Students have the option of submitting TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo, SAT, or ACT scores to meet the testing requirement.

Minimum scores to meet our English proficiency standards are:

  • TOEFL (iBT) – 79
  • IELTS – 6.0
  • Duolingo – 110
  • SAT – 480 on the Evidence-Based Critical Reading and Writing section
  • ACT – 18 on the English section

Note: International first-year applicants who have completed a diploma program with a minimum of one academic year, in English, at a US-based high school, in all non-ESL classes are exempt from these testing requirements. In addition, any student who has successfully completed level 112 of the ELS Language Centers English program is exempt from meeting the minimum testing requirements to demonstrate proficiency in the English language.

Step Three: Optional Elements

Queens wants to see you as a whole person, not just numbers on a page. So, we’re asking you – what else do you think is important to share with us that will tell the whole story of you?

Your resume

This is just another way for us to get to know you and what you’ve been up to!

Letters of Recommendation

Do you work with a teacher, school counselor, or community leader who knows you really well? If you do, we’d love to hear from them through a letter of recommendation.

Interviews

Interviews are a great way for us to get to know you and for you to get to know us. We want to meet you and to put a face with a name.

As an international student, you probably aren’t able to visit Queens for an interview. But, you’re in luck! Queens welcomes InitialView materials as an alternative to an in-person interview.

Step Four: You’ve done it!

You’ve applied to Queens University of Charlotte! Now that you’ve done all the hard work, sit back and let the admissions team do their work.
