About the Gambrell Center

History

A Brief History of the Queens University Fine Arts Center

Built-in 1966, the E. H. Little Fine Arts Center housing Dana Auditorium was located on the corner of Selwyn Road and Wellesley Avenue on the Myers Park campus of Queens University of Charlotte. After an extensive $23M renovation, the expanded Sarah Belk Gambrell Center for the Arts and Civic Engagement reopened in February 2020 as a home for the arts programs of Queens. The 63,000 square foot arts complex houses a 992-seat theatre, 150-seat recital hall, three art galleries, a variety of practice and classrooms, a music therapy suite, and the academic programs of the Art, Design and Music Department and Gambrell Center team. These facilities host over 500 events annually ranging from presented concerts, art exhibitions, lectures, symposia, plays, films, and a wide variety of campus and community-sponsored events.

About Queens University

Queens University of Charlotte is located in one of America’s fastest-growing cities, offering an extended classroom to students and a direct pipeline to meaningful careers for graduates. Queens’ unique General Education model teaches students to think critically about some of the world’s biggest problems, beyond the boundaries of what’s expected in a college classroom.
