Living in Charlotte

Take full advantage of one of the best cities to be a college student or recent grad

Grow Fast In a Fast-Growing City.

We’re in the heart of Charlotte, North Carolina, one of the fastest-growing metro areas in the country. From campus, you’ll have easy access to the city – you’re just a few miles from uptown – yet you’re surrounded by parks and greenways, restaurants and shopping. You get the perks of an intimate college campus in the midst of a vibrant city with so much to do. You’ve got lots to explore.

“I explored Charlotte like a kid in a candy store. I am glad that I chose to go to college in such a diverse and amazing city and I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else.” - Ciara Shupe ’18

Why is Charlotte a Great Place for College?

Charlotte puts you close to great employers.

ESPN Internship

Charlotte's ESPNU office offered a valuable internship opportunity for sports management major Lawrence Bell.

We know how important it is to gain experience that will help you find that great job. That's why we require internships and give you credit for them. A meaningful internship won't be hard to find here. You’ll be near Fortune 500 companies, major hospitals, pro sports teams, arts and culture organizations, and non-profits.

Our students have recently interned at companies including Wells Fargo, Carolinas Healthcare System, Duke Energy, ESPN, Seacrest Studios, Discovery Place, Carolina Panthers Radio, Charlotte Motor Speedway and Opera Carolina.

Charlotte's fun.

Charlotte is alive with arts, sports, restaurants, nightlife, and outdoor activities. Whether your idea of fun is going to a gallery crawl, watching the Panthers or Hornets, shopping in boutiques, rafting in rapids, Charlotte has you covered. We’re an active town, too; a greenway runs behinds campus, allowing you to get around town on foot or bike or use it for an afternoon of exercise. There’s a reason so many of our students don’t go home on weekends – there’s so much to explore right here.

And if you’re up for a weekend adventure, we are in prime road trip location: two hours to the mountains and three hours to the beach. Asheville, Charleston, Myrtle, Folly Beach… Where will your adventure take you?
