More Than an Internship

Here, you get more than an internship. You get career preparation. Relationships. Your experience will help you translate a well-rounded education into a successful career.

Our curriculum incorporates professional skills each year, our small size means that staff and faculty will know you personally so that they can connect you to the right opportunities beyond campus.

Our Vandiver Center for Career Development ensures that you have the skills, resources, and connections to succeed. Our center is set up like a corporate office, so you can begin to feel comfortable in interview settings and conference rooms before graduation. From here, you will take this knowledge, experience, and confidence with you into work in Charlotte and even around the world.

Mock Interviews

You’ll get the opportunity to experience a realistic interview scenario before heading out into the work place. Charlotte executives volunteer to serve as interviewers, and they take the time to conduct interviews, provide feedback and encouragement. Interviewers have included executives from Duke Energy, Girl Scouts, Carolinas HealthCare Systems, The Charlotte Hornets and Wells Fargo.

Networking and Career Events

All through the year, we offer events to connect students with employers. Schmoozapalooza, one of our most popular events, provides students and alumni with opportunities to network with highly respected companies throughout the Charlotte region. We also host job fairs, company presentations, site visits, on-campus recruiting, and guest speakers from top organizations.

Online Job Board

Visit the Queens Online Job Board to search through available jobs and internships, and post your resume to find an opportunity that advances your career path.

Personal Career Coaching

Get one-on-one consultations on launching your career. We’ll help you create an effective resume, provide insight on your career strategy, tell you about industry trends, and even offer a photographer and a studio for a professional LinkedIn profile picture. Our staff represents diverse fields, ranging from business to the arts to marketing to finance, so we’ll connect you with an expert who knows and understands your industry.

Career Development Guide

Queens believes students and alumni should feel individually supported in navigating their careers and future. With that in mind, Vandiver Center has created a Career Development Guide to serve as a resource for gaining industry knowledge, finding an internship, preparing for post-graduation plans and learning more about yourself.
