Summer Intern Housing

Welcome to Queens University of Charlotte Summer Intern Housing program! We look forward to working with you and even though it may be just for the summer, we want you to feel at home.

Finding affordable, safe and comfortable housing in Charlotte for a brief time can be a difficult task. With Queens Summer Intern Housing, our goal is to make that process much easier and your stay in Charlotte an enjoyable one.

Queens Summer Intern Housing will take place Saturday, May 18 through Saturday, August 3.

The Summer Intern Housing program does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, ethnic or national origin, gender, genetic information, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, citizenship, veteran status or any other factors.

Eligible Groups

  • Any graduate or undergraduate student enrolled in a summer internship in Charlotte or the surrounding area. (A minimum stay of eight weeks is required to be eligible for summer housing.)
  • A company that wants to rent or reserve rooms for interns.

Timeline Overview

January 8 – Applications Open

January 31 – Priority Deadline for applications requesting disability accommodations

March 1-8 – Approved Applicants notified

March 15-22 – Housing Contract, Acceptance Form, and Non-Refundable Pre-Payment due

May 1 – Total Balance or May-June Balance due

May 1 – Security and Parking Fee (if applicable) due

May 18 – First day of Move-Ins

July 1 – July – August Balance due

August 3 – Last day of Move-Outs

Application

Applications for summer interns will open on Monday, January 8. In addition to your application, be sure to email employer/internship confirmation to internhousing@queens.edu.

  • For disability accommodations – the priority deadline for submitting the application is Wednesday, January 31 to ensure your accommodations can be reviewed and approved in time for move-in.

Approved applicants will be notified by early March. Upon approval, interns will receive the following to be completed within two weeks of receiving their approval.

  • Housing Contract
  • Acceptance Form

In addition, approved Interns will be required to pay a non-refundable prepayment of $250 to secure a room within 2 weeks of receiving their approval. This prepayment will go towards final rent due.

Rates & Accommodations

All rates include utilities, amenities, access to on-site laundry, and a micro-fridge in every room. A parking permit is additional.

Wireman Residence Hall

May 18 – August 3, 2024

Wireman Hall two bedrooms suites include a shared bath. The dorm building includes a community floor kitchen, study room, and common area.

Rents for $31 per night per occupant.

Other Fees

A $100 refundable damage deposit is required by May 1, 2024. Upon completion of the summer, if no damage is found, this will be reimbursed.

If bringing a vehicle to campus, a required payment of $110 will secure a parking permit for you in Byrum Parking Deck. This payment and vehicle information is due by check-in or a late fee of $100 dollars will be added to the balance owed.

Payment Options

Guests will pay a nightly rate; you may choose to pay the entire balance or in two installments.

  • Entire stay balance is due by May 1, 2024. Or, if choosing two installments, the first payment that covers May and June rent is due May 1 and the second payment that covers July and August rent is due July 1.

All payments must be made online using the link provided in the invoice sent via email.

For returning interns – payments made in advance of receiving an approval notice will be refunded and does not secure you a room. Only make payments that you have been notified of via invoice.
